Ever wondered why you physically can't get your words out when you feel ashamed? The Boca's area of your brain goes offline meaning you physically cannot move your mouth to speak and as it also controls language the words just don't come out. Shame is an emotion that is meant to keep us in line in terms of behaviour, and to feel ashamed is to be warned that we risk being rejected because of who we are.
